Discover Why Sun Valley Locals Love Sorich Park’s Ridge Trail
Looking for walkable open space, incredible views, and an authentic Marin lifestyle? In the Sun Valley neighborhood of San Rafael, locals head to one place when they need fresh air: the Ridge, the trail network starting at Sorich Park. From Sun Valley if you go to the end of Crestwood Drive or Ridgewood Drive you can walk right into the park. Keep in mind, if you enter from Crestwood Drive the first section has a dog leash law, but once you reach the post by the municipal water storage container, your dog can be off leash. We've seen the ranger hanging out in that section giving out tickets. We've been lucky :)
This is What My Dog, Pogi, Likes To Do in Sorich Park
Technically, Sorich Park is located in nearby San Anselmo, but ask any Sun Valley resident and they’ll tell you: “That’s our Ridge.” It’s where the neighborhood meets nature.
What Is Sorich Park?
Sorich Park is a gateway to Marin County Open Space. From the trailhead in San Anselmo at the end of San Francisco Boulevard, hikers and dog-walkers climb a dirt path that opens to panoramic views of Mt. Tam, downtown San Rafael, and the ridgelines of Ross Valley. From San Rafael, you can reach the eastern side of Sorich Park from Crestwood Drive and Ridgewood Drive.
You’ll find:
-
Ridge fire roads perfect for hiking and biking
-
Seasonal wildflowers and oak woodlands
